At Origin, we believe in building a decentralized and robust platform that the community manages. To take a big step in that direction, we recently announced a new chapter for Dshop, where we are giving control of the codebase and the product to the Origin community.
This means that Origin will stop hosting your Dshop on our centralized servers starting on November 10, 2021. After this date, all Dshop support & inquiries will no longer be handled by the Origin team directly. Instead, we highly encourage you to create a separate forum on Telegram, Discord, or any other channels of your choice to discuss & exchange information going forward.
Additionally, starting September 10, 2021, we will disable all Dshop publishing/updates. If you are a merchant running an active business on Dshop, this will require you to either host Dshop on a non-Origin server or migrate your online store to a different platform. Below are our recommended steps that you can take to ensure a smooth transition between now and November 10, 2021.
Step 1: Choose your ecommerce platform
Deploy the Dshop stack on your own hardware or hosting provider of your choice
After choosing a hosting provider or setting up your own hardware, you can start the Dshop stack based on the generic instructions available in our developer's documentation on GitHub.
Step 2: Set up your new Dshop & migrate data to your new ecommerce platform
If you opted to continue using Dshop, after starting your new Dshop instance on the platform of your choice, you will need to set it up manually. The steps involved are as follows:
- Configure your Dshop in the same way you configured it on Origin's hosted platform. Refer to our support articles to help you.
- Re-create your products and collections.
- Publish your Dshop.
Once your new Dshop is set up, reach out to Dshop@originprotocol.com to request your Dshop’s historical sales data. Please note that we currently do not offer data import tools, hence you will need intermediate technical skills or work with your own developer to complete the data migration. Origin will store your data until November 10, 2021. After this date, you will no longer be able to access/make requests.
Origin will continue to pin all IPFS data for the foreseeable future to make sure it’s available. Please contact Dshop@originprotocol.com if you have any questions about retrieving the IPFS data.
